How to Play Tambola Solo: Complete Step-by-Step Guide
Most people think of Tambola as a party game — a room full of family shouting "Housie!" over the noise. But you do not need a crowd to play. With the Tambola app you can play a full game on your own, any time you like. This guide walks you through how to play Tambola solo, from the first tap to claiming Full House.
What is Solo Tambola?
Solo Tambola is a single-player game where the app calls the numbers and you play one or more tickets against yourself. There is no waiting for friends to join and no room code to share — it is just you and your tickets.
It is perfect for three things. First, practice: if you are new to Tambola, playing solo lets you learn the patterns and the pace without holding up a group. Second, passing time: a quick game on the bus or in a waiting room. Third, trying settings: experiment with ticket styles, speeds and prizes so you know exactly what you like before you host a big game night.
Getting Started
Getting into a solo game takes seconds:
- Download the Tambola app from the Play Store or App Store. It is free, with no sign-up.
- Open the app and tap Quick Play on the home screen.
That is it — Quick Play drops you straight onto the solo setup screen.
Setting Up Your Game
The setup screen is where you shape the game to your liking. Every option is explained below.
- Tickets per player — choose anywhere from 1 to 6 tickets. If you are just starting out, pick 1 ticket so you can track every number comfortably. Add more once you are confident.
- Border style — three looks for your ticket. Plain is clean and simple, Colourful tints each row a different shade so they are easy to scan, and Classic mimics the black-and-white newspaper tickets you remember from family gatherings.
- Call speed — how long the app waits between numbers, from 3 seconds (fast) for a quick adrenaline game up to 15 seconds (relaxed) when you want time to find each number.
- Highlight called numbers — when this is on, a gold glow appears on any called number that sits on your ticket, showing you exactly what to tap. Beginners should leave this on.
- Prizes to play for — pick which prizes are in play: Early 5, Top Line, Middle Line, Bottom Line and Full House. Turn off the ones you do not want.
- Score tracker — set a prize amount against each pattern. Even playing solo, it adds a little friendly stakes and lets you total up a "winnings" score at the end.
Playing the Game
Once your settings are ready, here is how a solo round flows:
- Tap Generate Tickets & Play. The app builds your tickets and the board.
- Numbers call automatically at your chosen speed — or, in manual mode, tap Call Next to draw each one yourself.
- Watch your ticket for the gold highlighted numbers as they are called.
- Tap each highlighted number to mark — or "dab" — it.
- Keep an eye on your claim buttons. Each one shows how many numbers away you are from that prize, so you always know how close you are.
- When a line is complete, the button changes to "TAP TO CLAIM".
- Tap to claim the prize. The game keeps going for the remaining prizes.
- Full House ends the game — all 15 numbers on a ticket marked.
Tips for Beginners
- Start with 1 ticket and a slow 10-second call speed so nothing feels rushed.
- Keep Highlight turned ON — it removes all the guesswork of spotting your numbers.
- Try the Classic border style for that authentic newspaper-ticket feel.
- Switch the announcer to Hindi voice for a traditional Tambola atmosphere.
Sharing Your Win
When you finish a game, the win screen lets you celebrate:
- Tap Share on the win screen.
- Send your win card image straight to WhatsApp.
- Challenge friends and family to beat your score.
