Number Caller Mode: Use Your Phone as a Tambola Caller

9 Jun 20264 min

What is Number Caller Mode?

Traditional Tambola is played with physical printed tickets and a caller who draws numbers from a bag. Number Caller mode turns your phone into a digital replacement for that bag — calling numbers automatically or on demand while your players use their own physical tickets.

It is perfect for:

  • Diwali family gatherings
  • Kitty parties
  • Office parties
  • Wedding functions
  • Any event where everyone already has physical printed tickets

Getting Started

Tap "Number Caller" on the home screen. There is no sign-up and no internet needed — it works completely offline, so it is reliable even in a crowded hall with patchy signal.

Setting Up

Tap the settings icon to configure your session:

  • Call speed — set the gap between calls, from 3 to 15 seconds.
  • Voice announcer — turn the spoken number callout on or off.
  • Language — choose from 10 Indian languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi and more.
  • Sound effects — pick a sound pack: Classic Chime, Drum Roll or Desi Dhol.

Calling Numbers

Manual Mode (recommended)

Tap "Call Next →" to call each number one at a time. You control the pace completely — pause for dramatic effect, wait for players to find a number, or speed up when the room is keeping up.

Auto Mode

Enable auto-call and numbers come out automatically at your set speed. This is great for large groups where the caller wants to play along too.

Pausing

Tap the pause button at any time — handy when players need a moment or there is a dispute to settle.

The Number Board

Tap the board icon to see all 90 numbers at a glance:

  • Called numbers are shown clearly.
  • The last called number is highlighted in gold.
  • Uncalled numbers stay in a muted colour.

Cast or share the board view on a larger screen so the whole room can follow along.

Resuming a Session

If you close the app mid-session, the next time you open Number Caller it asks whether you want to resume. All previously called numbers are remembered, so you never have to start over after an interruption.

Ending the Session

Tap "End Session" to finish. You get a clean summary:

  • How many numbers were called
  • Time taken
  • The full list of called numbers

Tips

For Large Gatherings

  • Connect your phone to a Bluetooth speaker so everyone can hear each call.
  • Use a slower speed of 10–12 seconds to give elderly players time.
  • A Hindi voice announcer adds an authentic, familiar atmosphere.

For Diwali Parties

  • The Desi Dhol sound pack sets a festive mood.
  • Pick Hindi or a regional language that suits your family.
  • Use Manual mode to build suspense before each call.
